English 9- Today we read chapter 7 in Anthem and started working on the chapter 4 to 7 analysis sheet.


English 10- Today we finished working on the group topic and theme identification activity. Make sure you have finished all the questions for chapter 8 and 9.

Monday November 9, 2015

English 9- Today we worked on questions for chapter 2, 3, and 4. If you did not complete these, you need to finish them for homework. All students need to have read through chapter 6. Here are the questions:

Chapter 2
1.       How are men and women allowed to interact? How often do the men get to see the women?
2. Why is Equality so concerned about Liberty’s age?
3. What relationship does Equality have with his parents?
4. Analyze and explain the dialogue between Equality and Liberty on page 43: “You are not one of our brothers, Equality 7-2521, for we do not wish you to be.”
5. We learn some of the things that are in the Uncharted forest. What are these things? Why are they significant?

Chapter 3
  1. Equality makes several important discoveries. What things does Equality discover?  Analyze and explain why these discoveries are important?
  2. Synthesize the last paragraph of the chapter on page 54.  (Take everything that is going on in this paragraph and bring it together into your own words.)

Chapter 4
1. Explain the conversation between Equality and Liberty in this chapter. Why is it significant and important?



English 10- Today we started a group topic and theme exercise. We will complete this tomorrow. Make sure you understand topic and theme, as well as being able to apply it to The Lord of the Flies.

English 9- Today we took the a short test over tone and mood in Anthem. If you were absent, please see me right away to figure out a time to make this up.

REMINDER: FINAL DRAFTS OF NARRATIVE #2 are due MONDAY!!! You need to include the rough draft, peer review and Final draft!!


English 10- Today I checked out books and we took review notes over conflict. Students need to have read through chapter 9 by Monday and completed the comprehension questions.  Here are the questions for chapters 8 and 9 if you need them:

English 9- Today we went over the group projects we created on Wednesday. We continued reading Chapter 2. If you did not finish the chapter, you will need to complete it for homework.  There will be a test tomorrow over the content we have been covering.  If you are paying attention to my blog, you are in luck.  Here is the test for you to preview and prepare for:

1. What is tone?

2. What is mood?

3. What is the tone of Anthem so far? Use an example from the text to explain this.

4. What is the mood of Anthem so far? Use an example from the text to explain this.

5. Define topic. What are some topics that have shown up in Anthem so far?

6. Define theme. What is a theme in Anthem so far?

7. Find an example of figurative language in Anthem. Explain why it is an example of figurative language. Explain why figurative language is important in writing.

8. What is due Monday? Are you going to be prepared?

English 10- Today we took the re-test for chapter's 1-6. Students should be through chapter 8 by Monday.

English 10- Today we reviewed group created answers to the first Lord of The Flies test. REMINDER: The makeup test is tomorrow, Thursday November 5 after school!! This test starts at 3:30 pm !!!

English 10- Today we reviewed test one for The Lord of The Flies. NOTE: The make up or re-take is Thursday after school at 3:30!!!

English 9-  NOTE: Narrative 2 rough draft due Wednesday!!! Today we finished reading chapter 1 in Anthem. Questions for chapter 1 are due tomorrow at the start of class. Here are the questions if you still need them:
