English 9- Today I rolled out the final writing prompt and expectations for Quarter 4. Here is the information I shared today:


For your final writing assessment, you are going to become an expert on the theme of a single section in Part Two. You will write a type 3 essay with the outline completely finished AND USED AS A REVISION.
To be proficient, you must demonstrate your ability to identify topic and theme, and support your theme with evidence from the text. The outline will be due Monday May 16. Final draft is due Thursday May 19. Absolutely no exceptions on the final due date.
Here is what the outline looks like:

Analyze theme in a section of your choice from part two of The Odyssey.  Discuss the theme and support it with at least 3 pieces of evidence from the text.

English 9- Today I handed back the Part One test. If you don't like your grade, you may revise the written piece. Directions to follow. We then finished reading The Odyssey. Directions for revision:

If you do not like your grade on the part one test, you may revise the three extended writing questions on theme.  You must:

\Choose two different pieces of text from part one, explain the text and analyze the theme. The choose a section and just analyze the theme. I can make myself available after school to help you if you are struggling!


English 10- Today we took the Of Mice and Men test. IF YOU WERE ABSENT: You can make up the test by Friday!! See me right away to complete this and schedule a time!!

English 9- Today we reviewed The Odyssey through part two. We then read "Death at the Palace" and proceeded to answer questions about it as well as filling out the study guide for the section. 


English 10- Today we worked on vocab for the week. The list follows this entry. We answered questions about chapter 5 and 6. Then we reviewed for the Of Mice and Men test. TEST TOMORROW! Please bring a pencil!

English 9- Today we reviewed what we have read of part two in The Odyssey. We them compared film elements from part one to the written book.


English 10- Today we took the vocabulary quiz. See me by next Wednesday if you were absent. We then finished Of Mice and Men and wrote a reflection in our notebooks. There will be a test over the book next Tuesday.

English 9- Today we started reading part two in The Odyssey. I handed out the study guide for part tow so students could be proactive in finishing this before the end so it is not so daunting. Students then independently worked on the questions for the section "The Beggar and the Dog."  Here are the questions from that section:

Class Copy.  Answer in complete sentences on your own sheet of paper. Use examples from the text to strengthen your answers.

English 10- We started class with a vocab review. Quiz will be on Friday. We then worked on characterization in Of Mice and Men.
