English 9- Today chapter summaries for 15 and 16 were due for TKaM. I rolled out the vocab list for the week and we reviewed chapters 15-17. We will take the partner quiz for over these chapters tomorrow. Here are the links to listen to the audio of each chapter:

English 10- Today we reviewed due dates, grades and presentation schedules. We continued to discuss and work on research projects on our approved social topics. Reminder: All research projects are due Monday March 7th!

Also: the questions for the articles "To Fall in Love, Do This" and "Concealed Guns Get a Green Light..." are due at the end of class on Monday February 29.

English 10 Presentation Proficiency Scale

Present information, findings, and supporting evidence clearly, concisely, and logically such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and the organization, development, substance, and style are appropriate to purpose, audience, and task.
Make strategic use of digital media (e.g., textual, graphical, audio, visual, and interactive elements) in presentations to enhance understanding of findings, reasoning, and evidence and to add interest.
Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and tasks, demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate.

Advanced
In addition to proficient performance, the student demonstrates in-depth inferences and applications that go beyond what was taught.
Proficient
Present research to an audience:
     Develop a well-thought-out claim supported with clear, concise evidence that is organized appropriately
     Use digital media to help the audience understand your findings and evidence
     Create an engaging, interesting approach to the topic that is appropriate for the audience
Partially Proficient
Recognize and use academic vocabulary specific to the task:
claim, evidence, appeal, purpose, audience
Present research to an audience:
     Present a claim that is supported with some evidence; organization may be inconsistent
     Use digital media or a visual to communicate information
     Create an approach to the topic that is appropriate for the audience
Unsatisfactory
*Does not meet minimum requirements even with help.

Additional expectations:
     Presentation should be approximately 3-5 minutes.

     Be prepared to present on the day and time assigned.
